The nutritionist is the one who deals with the diagnosis and treatment of nutritional diseases and the metabolic disorders associated with them. Within this specialty can be treated the most common of the diseases that cause incorrect nutrition, such as: diabetes, dyslipidemia, obesity and malnutrition, hyperuricemia.
The Nutritionist-Dietitian does not make a medical diagnosis and does not prescribe medication – that is the job and responsibility of the doctor. The responsibility of the nutritionist-dietitian is nutritional diagnosis, nutritional counseling, nutritional intervention / prescription, food-drug interactions, lifestyle recommendations and dietary supplements (safe, study-based) where appropriate.
